Hairstyles for Girls – Dutch Braid

Here is another video from Grace on how to do a Dutch Braid.  Hope you enjoy!

The ABC’s and The Months of the Year

We posted a couple more videos at the Sing & Say page.  They are more on the educational side: “The ABC’s” (with uppercase visuals) and “The Months of the Year”.  Hope you enjoy!

Mini Twist Braid

We have set up a new page at Family Faith & Home called Hairstyles for Girls.  For the past few years our daughter Grace has been learning how to do our other girl’s hair in cute styles.  We thought we’d post how-to videos of some of the different styles.  If you have any questions or comments feel free to leave them in the comments section.

New Sing & Say Video: “Only A Boy Named David”

We added a new Sing & Say video today.  Join in on the fun as Jim and the kids sing Only A Boy Named David – and be sure to join in on the hand motions too!

Morels

Morel 1
It’s that time of year again.  This is about the third batch of morels that we have harvested this season.  Not a lot, but enough for an enjoyable little snack.  Lightly floured and sautéed in butter – there is nothing quite like them.

I am always amazed at these mysterious, little, woodland delicacies – how, primarily, they only grow in the wild, how they pop up to full maturity literally overnight, though never under the gaze of a curious eye, and how they are seemingly as transient as a spring storm over the Kansas plains.

Often while hunting morels, the words of the psalmist come to my mind, when he declared;

O Lord, how manifold are your works!
In wisdom have you made them all…”  Psalm 104:24

Indeed, in wisdom God made all that was made – even the curiousdelectable…morel.

New “Sing & Say” Page

We have added a new page here at Family, Faith & Home that we hope you and your family will find fun, enjoyable and in some cases, for the little ones, even educational.  It is our Sing & Say page.  There you will find lots of videos with Jim and some of the kids doing sing-a-long songs, as well as a few of me with the kids learning through rhymes.  We will be adding to the list of videos we already have there, so be sure to check back regularly.

“He Lifted Me” Free Downloads Today

His brow was pierced with many thorns
His hands by cruel nails were torn
When from my guilt and grief forlorn
In love He lifted me

As we think, in a focused way, on Christ’s crucifixion today, we are making the song file and lead sheet to the song “He Lifted Me” available as free downloads at, Jim Spencer Music.

Blessings to you, as you remember His death today, and as you celebrate His glorious resurrection this Sunday!

A New Life

Baby Feet 700x472
We are rejoicing that another little one is on the way. This new addition to our family is due this fall.  Thanking the Lord that I am past the sickness that typically comes with the first trimester and starting to have a little more energy!  We are all looking forward with great anticipation to his or her arrival!

No “Magic Pill”

TFWRC Banner

Last week, Jim posted an article at The Family Worship Resource Center reflecting on how doing family worship in your home is an important spiritual discipline but it is not a “magic pill” for raising the “perfect” christian family.  We encourage you to check it out if you haven’t already.

Thanksgiving Lyric-Video: “For The Beauty of the Earth”

http://youtu.be/pyOj7BR6W8g?rel=0

For the beauty of the earth
For the glory of the skies
For the love, which from our birth
Over and around us lies…

I am reminded this morning of the Psalmist’s self-instruction, “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits,…” Ps. 103:2   With even the most modest reflection, there is, for sure, so much to be thankful for – indeed, “…the Lord is good;…  Ps. 100:5

May the Lord richly bless you today as you think on all of His benefits and give thanks to Him!

We hope you enjoy the little Thanksgiving lyric-video attached in this post!

Happy Thanksgiving, from all the Spencer Family!
